Dashboard

You are now standing behind the driver's seat. About half of the gauges and accessories on our dashboard are original. The other half are not. Starting from the upper left you will note: The ignition switch. To the right, a combination gauge which is both oil pressure and amperes. The next gauge to the right is the speedometer. Next to it is the water temperature \ fuel gauge. Next (to the right) are six black knobs. They are (in order from left to right): Throttle; outside air; heater control valve; inside air; heater fan; defrost fan. Below the Cortez emblem (hidden by the wheel) is the headlight switch, and control dimmer for the gauges. To the right (silver knob) is the wiper \ washer control switch. To the right of that is a cassette stereo deck. Original equipment here, would have been an AM Motorola radio. This ends the primarily stock portion of our dashboard.

Now back to the left again. Partially hidden behind the turn signal lever is the electric brake controller for trailer brakes. To the right of that is a driving computer, which gives MPG, distance traveled, accurate speed, fuel remaining in tank, and many more functions. The next 3 gauges to the right are: tachometer; vacuum; mechanical oil pressure. The white gauge to the right of the 3 just listed is a fuel pressure gauge. Next is a boat type cup holder. There is a compass also (far right) in front of the heater. Below and to the left of the tachometer is a "poor mans" cruise control, which is really nothing more than a throttle hold which is disconnected when the brake is pressed. Last you will note there is a non-stock steering wheel spinner (suicide knob) Out of view in this picture (just above the center of the steering wheel) is an emergency flasher switch and a bubble level device (which I use for leveling the coach for overnight parking) Below the white small gauge are 2 black switches. One controls an optional electric engine fan. The other controls the battery interconnect relay. Well, this about does it for the dashboard!

Since you are near the interior engine cover, I will point out the engine from inside the coach.
