Early Cortez Corvair emblem

This is a tour of the "Kent" model Cortez factory, which was located in Kent Ohio.

The picture above has nothing to do with the Kent model. It is the early emblem which was to be used on the "Clark" model. Originally, the Clark Cortez was to be powered by a Corvair engine. As the Clark Cortez grew in size (and weight) the engine and powertrain was changed to the now familiar Chrysler slant 6 engine, and custom built 4 speed fully synchronized transaxle. The above emblem was never used on any of the production units. I could not resist using it on this first "factory tour" page.

The next 13 pictures you will see are all black and white. The pictures were taken at the Kent factory by someone in the company in 1973. They were taken for advertising purposes. I have made every attempt to keep them as sharp as the originals that I received. The captions have been copied verbatim from the original pictures themselves.

This Kent factory tour will probably be moved from this location as this website grows and changes, but don't despair, this tour will remain on this site somewhere.

Special thanks go to Isabella Brumwell for supplying me these pictures and captions.
